As we step into October 2024, we have seen many companies make a change in their finance department this year. Today, Controllers Council will focus on 12 chief financial officers (CFOs) that have accepted new positions in September.
Target Names Jim Lee as New CFO
Target named long-time PepsiCo executive Jim Lee as its chief financial officer. In his prior role, he oversaw Pepsico’s global tax, treasury, investor relations and environmental, social and governance reporting functions, and led the finance teams for the beverage maker’s international business. At Target, he is tasked with overseeing its financial planning and analysis, finance capabilities, internal audit and corporate development.
Tyson Foods Names Curt Calaway as New CFO
Tyson Foods has named Curt Calaway chief financial officer, effective immediately. Calaway has been with the company since 2006, most recently serving as interim CFO. Calaway has nearly 30 years of experience in finance, audit, and accounting. Prior to being named interim CFO, Calaway served as the CFO for Tyson’s Prepared Foods Business Unit and was also responsible for the company’s Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and corporate development efforts. Calaway served as senior vice president of Finance and treasurer, where he led Investor Relations, Treasury, Corporate Finance, Corporate Financial Planning & Accounting, M&A, Corporate Development, and Supply Chain Finance.
AIG Names Keith Walsh as New Executive VP and CFO
American International Group (AIG) has appointed Keith Walsh as executive vice president and chief financial officer effective October 21, 2024. Reporting to AIG chair and chief executive Peter Zaffino, Walsh brings over 25 years of experience in finance, most recently serving as CFO at Marsh. Prior to that, he was vice president and head of investor relations for Marsh McLennan from 2012 to 2017.
Asana Names Sonalee Parekh as New CFO
Asana, a leading work management platform, announced the appointment of Sonalee Parekh as Chief Financial Officer. Parekh brings more than 25 years of experience in the technology and banking sectors to Asana, having previously held executive finance roles at leading public companies including CFO at RingCentral and Divisional CFO, Head of Corporate Development and Investor Relations at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). At Asana, Parekh will oversee the global finance organization and play a strategic role in supporting the company’s next phase of growth and innovation.
Honeywell Names Mike Stepniak as New CFO
Honeywell named insider Mike Stepniak its new chief financial officer as incumbent Greg Lewis has decided to step down from the role. Stepniak, who currently serves as vice president and financial head for Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, will succeed Lewis after the U.S. conglomerate announces its results for 2024.
Eli Lilly Names Lucas Montarce as New CFO
Drugmaker Eli Lilly named Lucas Montarce as chief financial officer, filling a vacancy left by the departure of Anat Ashkenazi, who joined Google’s parent company Alphabet as CFO earlier this year.

The Alamance-Burlington School System hired Tony Messer as its new chief finance officer immediately following a financial crisis that came to the forefront in summer 2023 and continues to impact the school system. Messer was previously the CFO for Chatham County Board of Education before joining ABSS.
