Corporate Finance & Accounting Talent Research Study

Report Identifies Talent Challenges and Trends

Chicago, IL—July 26, 2023—The results of a national study of corporate finance & accounting talent or human resources is now available in a published report by the Controllers Council. The research identifies hiring plans, transitions to Onsite vs. Remote work environments, outsourcing usage, compensation and benefits trends, and more.

The 2023 Corporate Finance & Accounting Talent Study was conducted in May to July of 2023 via a national survey of CFOs, Controllers, and related executives across a broad range of industries and company sizes. Despite the easing of the global pandemic, numerous talent challenges persist including Accountant and CPA shortages, transitioning work environments, and continued unpredictable macroeconomics.

Key findings include robust hiring plans, a majority 63% transitioning to Hybrid work environments, significant and growing talent outsourcing, top benefits for maximizing retention, and healthy compensation increase for finance and accounting (F&A) staff.

“The Corporate Finance and Accounting Talent study uncovered new insights into many aspects of effectively managing people during extremely challenging environments”, states Neil Brown, Controllers Council Executive Director. “The topic realized much interest from our many Controllers and CFOs, and we invite all to learn from these important findings.”
