Controllers for a Cause™ CPA Scholarship Program

The shortage of CPAs and accountants is acute, and the Controllers for a Cause™ scholarship fund by the Controllers Council™ seeks to reverse this trend by bringing awareness of the extraordinary opportunities of CPA careers, and bringing financial support to students pursuing CPA licensure.

The Controllers for a Cause™ scholarship fund is a program developed in partnership with the Controllers Council and the AICPA Foundation (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants).

Participation in the Controllers for a Cause™ scholarship fund will be available to members, subscribers, and sponsors of the Controllers Council; American Institute of Certified Public Accountant (AICPA) members and sponsors, and the public at large via the AICPA Foundation donations page here. All donations and scholarship awards will be managed by the AICPA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

“Controllers for a Cause is a program focused on the CPA shortage and building awareness of the amazing CPA career options in both public and corporate accounting,” states Neil Brown, Controllers Council Executive Director. “Students need to know that CPA careers can be fast track, financially rewarding, with excellent opportunities for both women and minorities.”

Financial and corporate controllers are often CPAs with public accounting backgrounds. And controllers manage corporate accounting departments that require CPAs for a variety of functions including tax, audit, financial analysis, financial reporting, and more. The shortage of CPAs and accountants is well documented, with 75% of CPAs in public accounting firms reached retirement age by 2019.

Controllers Council will donate 20% of all membership dues to the Controllers for a Cause™ Scholarship Fund, and encourage members and sponsors to donate directly to the fund. Our goal is to be a top fundraiser for the AICPA Foundation and their mission to support CPA students and the CPA licensure for all.
